Archeology, cultural heritage, and immersive technology

Just as digital technology profoundly affects our daily lives, it is also revolutionizing archaeology. The introduction of 3D models to make digital copies of artefacts, archaeological sites and monuments has increased the availability of archaeological research and given archaeologists new tools to analyse and interpret past traces of human life. The development opens for wider use, not only for research management and publication, but also for dissemination and use in other areas such as forensics. In this innovation portfolio, archaeologists co-create new technology with various technology developers, companies and organizations.

What?

At the heart of this innovation portfolio is the story, the story born from an archaeological excavation that enables stories about us and our cultural heritage. We combine the story with the use of new technology in different ways.

Why?

Combining the ability to tell stories, with access to research data and the use of new immersive tech, develops and creates new ways of telling stories. Here we want to achieve innovation by working on making productions. Through live productions, we develop technology and solutions that require collaboration and integration between data, stories and technology.
