New ideas form our way of thinking and well-executed projects change society. At Future by Lund, we are constantly looking for new challenges, ideas and themes that contribute to change, innovation and sustainable development. For example, it could involve learning from space and space technology to create more robust systems on Earth. The Biosolutions portfolio brings together ideas, projects and activities based on the use of biomass (as raw material) in combination with bioprocess technologies to create applications in various fields of application (e.g. chemicals, fuels, food, pharmaceuticals). The field is not new, but as new biotechnological tools are being created at a rapid pace in combination with data-driven development, it is quickly opening up new solutions that can create new societal values, such as replacing fossil raw materials with new materials and replacing animal protein with fermented protein.

Advanced communication technology is at the heart of tomorrow’s digital society. Future by Lund brings together leading organisations and provides testbeds where Swedish businesses and public sector stakeholders can develop solutions powered by next-generation connectivity. We also lead strategic projects to build smarter communities, with an active role for citizens and stakeholders across society.

Systems, ideas and technology make change possible, but people make it happen. A changing society needs creative and driven individuals within organisations but also outside to co-create a dynamic culture of innovation where it is natural to collaborate across organisational and knowledge boundaries. Cultural and creative competences are important to catalyze and enable co-creation in the space where the new is born and allowed to grow. Future by Lund strives to make it obvious to cooperate with the creative sectors and also that they can drive development in an area.

Future by Lund works with various new housing and workplace concepts that combine technological solutions with new behavioural patterns, for example in mobility and consumption. The concepts create new qualities for individuals and for people in social contexts, while contributing to a more sustainable development. Here we work with robust, circular and climate-neutral local solutions in the city, for example for energy and water.

Mobility and diverse flows are some of the most important features of a city, but at the same time also difficult to impact. At Future by Lund, we work with projects with several different focuses. One is to solve immediate challenges such as climate, emissions, noise and safety. Here, we work primarily with the electrification of city transport. Another focus is attractive micro-flows (walking, cycling, electric scooters and more) that are part of creating a more healthy and meaningful lifestyle in the city. We also focus on various services and solutions that deliver mobility as a service, as well as on agile planning and real-time control of city flows. In addition, we are working on projects that focus on human-centered mobility. Access to health care, work, school, commerce and leisure activities is influenced by the design of the mobility system, and by the social processes surrounding it. In order to seriously create human-centered mobility, a wide range of actors is therefore needed to involve a wide range of actors to find new solutions.
