Logistics & e-commerce

E-commerce as a phenomenon is growing and also provides new opportunities for consumers. At the same time, e-commerce faces sustainability challenges. By taking a holistic approach (focusing on logistics, behaviour, lifestyle, packaging, delivery and urban planning), this portfolio aims to create an efficient and competitive trading system without negative impacts on climate or human health.

Vad?

E-commerce is growing steadily, offering consumers a smoother and more accessible shopping experience. At the same time, the industry faces major sustainability challenges, from inefficient logistics solutions and resource-wasting packaging to increased CO2 emissions from deliveries and a growing problem with returns.

Varför?

The project portfolio takes a holistic approach to reshaping the e-commerce ecosystem and creating a sustainable, circular and competitive trading model. By integrating smart solutions in logistics, behavioral science, urban planning and digitalization, we can minimize environmental impact and maximize both consumer and business benefits.

Vem?

The portfolio is headed by the Packaging Logistics Department at the Department of Design Sciences at Lund University of Technology LTH. The work goes hand in hand with the Fashion & Textiles portfolio and the MCRS project, which deals with sustainable, resilient and circular manufacturing industries and therefore includes many different partners and actors.
