Lund Municipality, Mobile Heights: DigIT Hub to be established in southern Sweden
DigIT Hub Sweden will be one of four EU-funded hubs to be located in Sweden. The Hub is operated by 29 organizations and partners. Lund Municipality is part of the partnership which also consists of other municipalities, regions, higher education institutions and companies in southern Sweden. DigIT Hub Sweden aims to stimulate the widespread use of digital technology among southern Swedish organisations.
In 2022, the European Commission has appointed DigIT Hub Sweden, in competition with 283 other candidates in Europe, as a European Digital Innovation Hub (EDIH). Led by Mobile Heights, a partnership of 29 municipalities, regions, universities and companies in southern Sweden has applied to the European Commission to establish a European Digital Innovation Hub in Lund, also called EDIH. The non-profit consortium is tasked with operating the hub for at least three years with a budget of approximately SEK 65 million. DigIT Hub Sweden becomes part of a European network of digital innovation hubs where organisations can turn to for knowledge, help with test environments, advice or funding.
The hub is already up and running and is expected to be fully operational as early as autumn 2022. The Hub is aimed at SMEs or public sector organisations seeking support for their digitisation in the form of funding, training, tools/technology or other relevant support functions. DigIT Hub Sweden is coordinated by Mobile Heights.
